Honkai: Star Rail - Should you pull Jing Yuan?

Honkai: Star Rail to introduce Jing Yuan under the "Swirl of Heavenly Spear" character banner event warp on May 17, 2023. Jing Yuan is the upcoming 5-star playable character in Honkai: Star Rail, He is the general of the Xianzhou Alliance's Cloud Knights and one of the Six Charioteers of the Luofu. Jing Yuan is a lightning character who takes the path of Erudition, where he excels at dealing multi-target damage with his explosive strikes. But before we talk about Jing Yuan, let's take a look at his banner first and discuss why he would be a very good pull for both F2Ps and spenders. Why should you pull Jing Yuan

Jing Yuan, is looking to be the best AOE damage dealer in the game, and not just that but the 4th best single-target damage dealer, at least in the 1.0 version. Not only does he deal massive damage to loads of enemies but also, has some of the most beautiful animations the game has ever presented to the players.

Jing Yuan seems to be a strong lightning damage dealer on release, having strong AoE as well as single target damage, something the lightning element does not have as of his release in the game. This justifies the fact that he by himself is a good unit with a strong kit if you want a lightning damage dealer with both AoE and single target capabilities as well as being a good shield breaker.

Jing Yuan Ascension and Abilities

Jing Yuan traces have some decent stat addition along with his ascension passives that increases his damage even further.

• ASCENSION 2 - Battalia Crush - If the Lightning-Lord's attack count is greater or equal to 6 in the next turn, its CRIT DMG increases by 20% for the next turn.
• ASCENSION 4 - Man With a Plan - Jing Yuan immediately regenerates 15 Energy at the beginning of the battle.
• ASCENSION 6 - War Marshal - After using Skill, CRIT Rate increases by 10% for 2 turn(s).

Basic Attack – Glistening Light (Single target)

Strikes lightning damage to one enemy dealing 50% of Jing Yuan's ATK

Second Ability – Rifting Zenith (AoE attack)

Cleaves his weapon dealing lightning damage to all enemies equal to 50% of Jing Yuan's ATK, also increasing Lightning-Lord's strike count twice for the next turn.

Ultimate Ability – Lightbringer (AoE attack)

Hits all the enemies to deal Lightning damage equal to 120% of Jing Yuan's ATK. This also increases Lightning-Lord's strike count thrice for the next turn.

Talent – Prana Extirpated (AoE attack)

Lightning-Lord's attacks are considered follow-up attacks. Lightning-Lord will be summoned at the start of the battle with 60 base SPD and 3 standard attack count.

If you are still debating whether to pull the Jing Yuan banner or the Seele banner, I strongly advise you to hold off for the first few weeks and pull for Jing Yun when he arrives on May 17, 2023. Because it is, if I may venture a guess, the best value for Stellar Jades banner you will find in a while.
